TRADER JOE’S OPENS IN COLORADO
R&R is pleased to be the vendor of choice for Trader Joe’s, providing survey and civil engineering services for the ground-up stores in Colorado!
Today marked the opening of the flagship store in Denver (8th Avenue & Colorado Blvd.) as well as the Boulder store on the 29th Street Mall. Both had lines wrapping around the building for hours prior to opening, and once the doors were open anxious visitors were greeted with leis and a treasure trove of Trader Joe’s original goodies. “Two buck chuck” wine, spreadable cookie butter, and an assortment of flavorful snacks were hot items, but Trader Joe’s offers a wide range of fresh fruits/vegetables and prepared meats as well.
R&R has worked diligently for months on both sites, providing unqiue design solutions for each building including underground stormwater detention vaults and innovative designs for parking access, sidewalk layout, curb and gutter, and street improvements (particularly with the Denver location as Colorado Boulevard is a state highway, involving close coordination with CDOT). Each milestone has been exciting to see, and once the signs went up in late January it set the tone for the grand opening a few weeks later.
In addition to the three locations opening on February 14th, R&R is busy at work on the second Denver location, slatted to open sometime in 2014 on 7th Avenue and Logan Street in the Capital Hill neighborhood near downtown. We look forward to growing with Trader Joe’s in Colorado and bringing their wonderful wares to a store in your community next!
