We are proud to announce that Todd Smith, PhD, PE, LEED-AP, is R&R’s new Executive Vice President.
A Registered Professional Engineer, LEED-AP and 2019 Ph.D. (Risk Management through Leadership) with 30-plus years in multi-state design and construction for heavy civil, utilities, site work, landscape, and reclamation, Todd has led teams of 10 to 1,800, plus overseen public hearings, public approval processes, private philanthropic ventures, and engineering reviews with countless government and non-government groups at all levels. Todd, who previously worked as an R&R employee in the late 1990s, continued to cultivate strong relationships with R&R after his departure, ultimately bringing the company on as a survey and engineering sub-consultant on his projects.

Originally from Wisconsin, Todd has deep roots in the civil design and construction industry, having begun his career as a superintendent and foreman. Todd holds a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville; an Honorary Master's degree in sports field construction from The University of Denver; and a Ph.D. in risk management from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.

Todd's professional experience in public and private sectors spans the spectrum: He's worked on projects ranging from $100,000 to $400 million, including more than 200 running tracks and an additional 200 synthetic and natural fields, plus environmental projects, bridges and safety surfaces.
"Working alongside Tony Smith, I'll focus primarily on teaching, formalizing and streamlining engineering procedures," said Todd, adding that his new position also includes "workload deadline achievement and customer communication, while jointly refining many cross-functional internal processes and culture."
