Historic Simmons Field Rennovation - Kenosha, WI

Historic Simmons Baseball Field Renovation
Kenosha, WI

Client: The City of Kenosha + Let’s Play Two, LLC (Owners of the Kenosha Kingfish)

Size: 5 acres

Project information:

Todd guided the owners through several key upgrades, including:

  • Field drainage and grading

  • Conversion of the entire game field to synthetic turf

  • Relocation of the "make-shift" bullpens from the warning tracks to dedicated, fenced-in bullpens

  • Replacement of old HID lighting with state-of-the-art LED lighting

  • Replacement of all perimeter fencing around the field of play

  • Expansion and improvement of outfield parking

  • Installation of a retro-looking baseball-specific scoreboard, roughly four times the size of the original

  • Removal of backstop and sideline net posts and installation of cabled backstop netting systems that tie in behind the press box, eliminating poles between the fans and the game they love.

Size: 17 acres

Project information:

Designing for much-needed housing for the area, Lynn O’Grady (Project Manager) is providing subdivision infrastructure design through the City entitlement process for approximately 80 lots with a mix of single-family and duplex housing styles. The site layout, grading, drainage, and utility design is a continuation of prior work for the master development.

Project information:

Working hand-in-hand with Strata Design and Planning, R&R’s Engineering Department Manager, Clif Dayton, PE is providing keen insight and due diligence for site development and civil needs for proposed residential, hospitality, and recreational use land at the shores of Lake McConaughy.

Under Clif’s leadership the R&R team has provided confirmation of local entitlement process, review of County requirements, and preparation of opinions of probable cost for Client use.

Client: Vega Architecture LLC

Size: ~9 acres

Project information:

Working closely with the design team members, Tim Stackhouse, PE LEED AP ND, an R&R Senior Project Manager, is providing site selection analysis and civil design for a proposed 15,000 SF fire station including multiple vehicle bays, offices, meeting and training rooms, decontamination rooms, and living quarters, as well as site vehicular access design suitable for emergency vehicle use. Selected site and preferred design options to be utilized as a template for future fire stations in the Town.

Helena, MT

Client: Dick Anderson Construction

Size: ~5 acres

Project information:

Uniting with a longtime client and skilled local contractor, R&R’s own Executive Vice President, Todd Smith, PhD, PE LEED AP lent his expertise to supply a 2-layer synthetic turf base and site installation for the state-of-the-art new football stadium field, designed to allow for multiple sport uses including soccer and softball (note the retaining wall/backstop configuration in the southeast corner).

Local materials selection and onsite construction instruction, observation, and inspection were critical scope contributing to the successful construction of this centerpiece facility for athletic feats on campus. Our team eagerly awaits the opening home game on September 7th against Montana Tech – Go Fighting Saints!
