ALL-STAR PARK RENOVATION
CLIENT Academy Sports Turf, Inc.
SIZE 2.9 acres
COMPLETION 2020
LAKEWOOD, CO
During the Summer of 2020, R&R provided comprehensive civil engineering, baseball-specific synthetic turf and infill, and topographic design survey for the rehabilitation of Lakewood’s Keli McGregor Field at All-Star Park. The Park is a mini replica of Coors Field, originally constructed in 1998 (in tribute to Colorado’s All-Star game the same year) when Major League Baseball chose the Gold Crown Foundation as its legacy project recipient. The rehabilitation project converted the existing natural grass to 128,060 square feet of artificial turf to reduce the maintenance requirements and recovery time. The Gold Crown Foundation is a local non-profit created by Ray Baker and former Denver Nugget Bill Hanzlik that offers sports and education programs for kids. All-Star Park is frequently utilized by Colorado Christian University, other leagues, clubs, and camps.
"This field design, combined with the subsurface drainage system, base section and quality control of the entire installation by GreenONE Industries, Inc. and Academy Sports Turf have resulted in what some folks consider to be the best amateur ballpark in the State!"
Mr. Shannon L. Dreyfuss, VP of Campus Development at Colorado Christian University
